http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=28176 ... from site: 98 Points - Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) "The profound 2005 Shiraz Amon Ra is fashioned from a dry grown, 100- to 110 year-old vineyard, and spends 14 months in a combination of 100% new French and American barrels as well as 300-liter hogsheads. A saturated purple color is followed by scents of creme de cassis, incense, licorice, black raspberries, graphite, and sweet wood. It unfolds beautifully on the palate to reveal terrific richness, full-bodied power, great definition, and lovely elegance. This exquisite Shiraz is still young, but it possesses a degree of accessibility. It should age for two decades. It is a superb example of cutting edge winemaking being utilized on ancient Shiraz vines in the Barossa."

2005 Amon-Ra Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)hello extracted over-the-top fruit bomb! on the nose: black blackberry as well as some raspberry complemented with oak, perfume, lavender, dark chocolate, as well as good ol' earthiness, rosemary type spice/greenery, plastic processing. On the palate: blackberry, pepper, and more blackberry fruit - very very well extracted fruit as well as a tinge of sourness (maybe sour cherry). Infinitely long finish develops and matures the fruit. Well integrated tannins and grip - incredible balance. A little hot/rough on the way down, but this should mellow with time. Great sweet-tart extraction! Spectacular complexity. Spectacular ...+ or - evals... Distinct varietal character: +, Integration: +, Expressiveness: +, Complexity: +, Connectedness: +
2005 Amon-Ra Shiraz
(6 months ago)intense blueberry and tobacco leaf on the nose, followed by a deep smooth cassis and blackberry flavour. However the wine is very very complex and flavours change and modify dramatically after opening and exposure. Tannins are powerful but controlled. A luscious and explosive experience, absolutely fabulous with roast moroccan lamb, or barbequed argentinian t-bone steak
