2005 Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Lilting without being light. I'd drink this when I'm thirsty. :-) I love smoking loon!
2005 Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Flavorful and smooth. Surprisingly pleasant for a cheap bottle of wine.

(about 1 year ago)This is a rich wine that has a smooth but complex flavor. I highly reccomond this wine, its rare to get such a unique rich flavor for just 8 dollars.

(about 1 year ago)I prefer this one to the 2004. The flavors are a little more complex. Darker fruits come through on this one and the oak flavors are a little more contrived. Darker pomegranate and currant flavors come forward in this bottle. Give it time to breathe.

(about 1 year ago)Solid value wine. Matched up fine with steak . . . will drink again.
2005 Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Surprisingly good flavor for an inexpensive wine. Not very complex, but seems to appeal to most palates.
2005 Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)An even taste with little bite. Had a notable amount of sediment. Half of our bottom went into a Bolognese sauce and the rest into our glasses. A pleasant combination.

(about 1 year ago)I was overwhelmed by pepper. On the nose, throughout the palate, everywhere. I tasted a little cherry, but not enough to make me want another bottle.

(about 1 year ago)Nose: Very earthy and leathery with hints of cherry. Not an unpleasant aroma. Taste: I got lots of leather, mud and just plain earthy flavors. It has a good full-bodied feel in the mouth, not too heavy as long as it accompanies something with heft (stinky cheese, french cuisine, etc.) There was a plum and tobacco component on the palate as well. Definitely not my style of wine, but I'm sure there are people out there that will love this wine for its over the top earthiness.

(10 months ago)Very smoky nose, although that did not carry through to the taste. Flavors of apple, pear, and pomegranate, with a surprisingly light body for a cab sav, and a bitter/sour quinine-like finish. Good value for the money.

(9 months ago)VERY earthy and smoky flavor. For me, this is a good thing, but may not be for everyone. Smells almost like church incense. Goes down surprisingly smoothly, though, with an intriguing lingering finish.

(5 months ago)Earthy, sweet, peppery, pleasant nose. I catch a whiff of the sweet potato with marshmallow dish my mom used to make for thanksgiving. This wine has a dry flavor; I'm not catching any fruit in the taste. Starts fairly flavorless and develops a earthy, peppery, flat flavor. Sort of unpleasant aftertaste. I'm not a big fan of this wine.

(3 months ago)I definately get a lot of pepper like everybody else said, way to much as a matter of fact. A hint of cherry and just the right amount of oak and maybe some, on the back end it tastes like scotch which I don't Particularly care for. This wine DEFINITELY isn't for everybody (it sure wasn't for me) but for $8 you can't expect a whole lot.
