Kim Crawford 2006 Malborough Sauvignon Blanc
(about 1 year ago)Nose of lychee, with flavors of apple and melon.

(about 1 year ago)The initial taste hit me with a strong lemony taste. The wine had a very refreshing tingle and was great with the fra diavolo dish we had for dinner. A good wine that I would buy again.

(about 1 year ago)Nose is a blast of grapefruit and lychee, almost comically huge. It's like someone opened up a ripe ruby-red and slammed it in your face, acid in the eyes and all. In a good way, I think. Very citrusy up front on the palette, the mid-palette is a little bitter, kinda left me wanting more. Grapefruit flavors and other tropical notes linger on through a medium length finish. A good effort and easy drinking wine, but at 16$, I am left wanting more.

(about 1 year ago)Grapefruity and crisp. Buy it at Costco by the case.

(about 1 year ago)nice lemongrass and grapefruit flavors on the nose and palate with lively acidity. great sauvignon blanc for enjoying the summertime weather with a fresh garden or caesar salad

(about 1 year ago)Wow, yellow grapefruit bomb on the nose and taste, extremely crisp with hints of fresh lemon zest, and fresh tart granny smith apple, well balanced, good acidity with a silky mouth feel. Very pleasurable wine.

(about 1 year ago)I got exactly what I was looking for thanks to the previous reviews. Tons of grapefruit and grass. Great summer quaffer. Borderline QPR, a bit expensive for a one dimensional wine but at least you know what you are going to get and it is readily available, at least where I am.

(about 1 year ago)Count me among those who enjoyed the barrage of grapefruit and granny smith apples. Better to buy by the glass than the bottle, though. 750ml became too much of a good thing. I lost interest somewhere along the way.

(about 1 year ago)Very fruit forward which is typical of Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs; crisp and citrusy with a definite grapefruit core; also sensed a little cut grass and green apple lased with passion fruit on the nose; I love having this style of wine with spicy foods i.e. Mexican, Thai, etc. It does a great job by quenching the heat while mingling with the cilantro and acidity of limes used in authentic Mexican food.

(about 1 year ago)Wide range of flavor and aroma. Citrus taste, yet has a very strong peach taste as well. A hint of melon makes the finish smooth and yummy. I would definitely do this one again.

(about 1 year ago)Light golden color, sweet pear, grapefruit and lemon zest on the nose (very impressed with the nose). Nice balance on the palate with grapefruit, lemon/lime and an easy simple finish. Perfect summer wine and an awesome value. Rare to find such a mass produced wine of this quality.

(about 1 year ago)Ah, the power of merchandising. I had another bottle of sauvignon blanc in hand, and was walking out of the wine isle in Draeger’s when the little tag hanging from the Kim Crawford bottle (expertly placed at the end of the isle cap) screamed out “92 Points! W.S.”. And, I hate to admit… it totally worked. I put the other bottle down and without even thinking grabbed this up. What a sucker.
As mentioned above, there's some nice flavors of grapefruit and just a bit of peach at the very front, with a little butter, a little minerality, and a good bit of grass round it out. Nice enough, and at $14, it sure doesn’t hurt to try it.
I think oister nailed it though... While the first glass was fun, I found my palate getting a little tired by the end of the bottle.

(about 1 year ago)I found this wine to be very complex, interesting and well worth the money. The nose was dominated by papaya with some lemon, maybe some sweat. The palate started with an explosion of grapefruit then a great creamy, hazelnut mid-palate. This progressed to a grapefruit finish that eventually faded and the papaya returned. Fantastic. My only complaint is that it is a little too acidic, but I drank it at room temp, so that might improve with refrigeration.

(about 1 year ago)Great sauvignon blanc. Nose was plenty of grapefruit and citrus. This wine is almost silky, with good mouth feel and plenty of acidity. Taste was pretty heavy on the grapefruit and lime, which was delicious, but also had a bit of apple and peach with nice minerality. Complex SB with a surprisingly long finish that almost has a little kick to it. At $17, it's absolutely worth trying, but I got it on sale for $13 - that makes it case-worthy.
