A superb merlot that we picked up in our trip to Sonoma in Jan 2007. This was a wonderful bottle. The Sonoma County is 1 level above their normal coastal stuff so thats why it was more. It had nice cherry and vanilla I associate with the mix of french and american oak in the barrel aging and at a 2003 with 13 months in barrel that means it had already been in bottle 2 years at least. An excellent mid of the road bottle a definete buy again.

Yep. its good. While the coastal stuff went pretty far downhill from the 2003 to the 2004, this 2003 Sonoma County Merlot is a keeper. I think it will age well and its a fine example of good Sonoma Merlot that's not pretentious or overpriced. If you see it, buy a few.
