Harsh wine. Over oaked and the ethanol is a bit much. Overall not horrible, but lacks any sense of elegance.

Balanced and quite pleasing, but nothing extremely special or outstanding. I really expected more from this price level, but I am a fruit bomb lover, so maybe I am always looking for something to smash me in the mouth. This wine is classic and smooth. NAPA does come through. I did try it last night with a grilled ribeye, and it was kinda-sorta overpowered by the marinated steak with lots of smoke from the grill - BUT, it did not disappoint. I corked it last night, and tried again tonight without food - my impression tonight is a tad bit better - so I say 88. Distinctive Cab flavors - NAPA quality. Because it's NAPA and 38 bucks, I expected a little more! I love fruit bombs - Petit Syrah (sirah), Aussie Shiraz, etc., so maybe my palate is slightly jaded, but I have had a few NAPA Cabs that have satisfied a little more than this one!
