72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cab Franc, 9% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot; from klwines.com: 90 points Robert Parker: "White Rock’s offerings always possess a distinctive Bordeaux-like personality, which is not surprising in view of the fact that they are blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Fashioned from an organically run vineyard (no pesticides or herbicides), it boasts a deep saturated ruby/purple color as well as a nose of graphite, black currants, damp earth, and flowers. Medium to full-bodied and elegant, with well-integrated tannin and subtle background oak, it possesses wonderful sweetness, elegance, and restraint, which are not easy to achieve in California. Drink it over the next 10-12 years." (02/05) 89 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, firm and concentrated, with rich, plush currant, chocolate, blackberry and herbal-cedary flavors supported by tightly wound tannins that coat the palate. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2006 through 2012. 1,500 cases made." (11/04)

The nose did in fact exhibit more "old-world" traits, a lot of whet rock, dirt, slight fruit, and a sweatiness aspect. I found the wine to be thin on the mid-palate and the finish to be very rough. The taste seemed definitely muted. Some balance was restored after hours of decanting, but I do not think I'd try this Napa claret again. Definite California characteristics, but there are better wines from California. ... + or - evals... A nice 'old-world' new-world wine. A good dark chocolate nose leads to a quick fruit front with a slight mid-palate breakdown that leads to a medium length finish. Best after a couple of hours decanted. Would like to see how a few more years would favor this solid claret. Would try again.
