Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Murky, earthy, kind of young tasting
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Very muted fruit. Some earth and some rather gross funkiness. It's not undrinkable, but not worth the $5 I paid for it.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)'Sokay. I didn't find it exceptionally good or bad, but it was fine for a cheap wine. I can't agree with the other reviews about "funkiness" or being "earthy", so perhaps this wine is sensitive to how its stored. And I'd use "bland" rather than "murky". I won't bother trying it again to find out.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Young and grape-y, almost a bit sweet. Doesn't taste like a nearly 14% alcohol wine. No complexity to speak of - I may buy a couple more bottles and let them cellar awhile, then see how they are. I rather liked this particular bottle!
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Nothing impressive. I thought it was an inconsistant wine, in that it went from mellow to very acidic. Probably would not buy again.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Unremarkable, but drinkable, especially for the price. Lives up to its promise of jamminess, but falls down on complexity and depth.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Very drinkable, particularly with a little air. Great with food -- maybe the "funkiness" mentioned by others came from a bad pairing or no pairing at all? Pleasant, particularly for the money.

(about 1 year ago)I'm beginning to discover that I will totally be adjusting my rankings... I've had the pleasure of having some really damn good wines. And then there are ones like this that come along, cheap as all get out ($5), and really, not unpleasant at all. I don't want to put this wine out of the 80s because there totally is a threshold there of "wines below 80 are undrinkable". Many are. And while this wine is in no way the class of the field in any respect... With pizza or a burger, this makes a great outdoor cookout / camping / cheapo-poor-grad-student-movie-night-in. Especially for those on a tight wine budget, give this one a go. A solid 'red table wine' style wine for your red-wine drinking needs.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)I didn't think this one so bad. I definitely did not find it funky or murky, nor even young tasting. Unfortuantley I am making these notes long after finishing the bottle.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Definitely a buy (considering it is in the $5.00 neighborhood). I don't get the "murkyness, or other odd comments, vegetal (not really fruity at all). Yeah, it's not gonna set the world on fire, but it's different than anything else at that price point (thanks Trader joes!). It does "look odd" since it advertises it is made of three different types of wine (yet never bothers to mention what they are).
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)Delightfully inexpensive, but only so-so taste. I don't taste much fruit - there's a bit of bitterness/astringency at first. After an hour or two, it opens up, and becomes more approachable. Thin, but quaffable.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)ive possibly consumed more than a case of this wine in the last few months. i was never impressed at red blends, generally they tasted like mistakes the moment they touched my lips. the bold berry flavors make it a wonderful simple table wine that is as enjoyable to drink as a beer.. or four. Im not saying its the best red in the world, but its a darn tasty $4 beverage.
Tres Pinos 2005 Tierra Roja
(about 1 year ago)One of the best cheap wines I've ever had. A blend of reds. This is a great alternative to Charles Shaw from Trader Joe's if you are looking for a bargain red wine with a nice easy flavor. I've noticed if you let it breathe a bit you get an even smoother flavor.
