Very dark in color. Mellow tannins with a medium-rich black fruit component backed up with notes of figs, pepper, and a touch of tobacco.

Deep dark and full of aroma. Even while decanting the power of this Spanish beauty will allow scents of wood and the dark part of the cellar to slip into the room. Smooth at first like a Rioja many times its price. It has an enormous crescendo and while not as excellent as its younger brother 2001, it is still superb.
