St. Hallett 2005 Gamekeeper's Reserve
(about 1 year ago)At 13.5% alcohol, this one shows refinement and restraint. Very nice character of raspberry, clove, and mixed spices, with a bit of cigar box as well. Finish is short, where the tannins flex a bit of muscle. This wine showed marked improvement after remaining opened for a day, which suggests some possible longevity. Try through 2012.

(about 1 year ago)I enjoyed this one but it wasn’t quite heavy enough to stand up to the steak I paired it with. Light body for a Shiraz but really nice flavour...lots of berries, predominately raspberry with some pepper spice.

(about 1 year ago)Interesting nose - gamey red currants. Light-medium body with subtle tannins. Lots of red fruit, nice balance. pretty solid bottle of wine. Good value.
