Matthiew di Brully 2005 Mercurey "La Perriere"
(about 1 year ago)Here is a wine that surprised me. Light in color and simple up front, with some nice cherry and apple pie character. The midpalate is where this one really shows its stuffing, with complex flavors of earth, peppermint, and red fruits. The finish is equally impressive, where some tight but very well integrated tannins butt in over very nice lingering finish. This one has some class, and I would think it would hold out until 2010 and beyond.
