Montes Alpha Syrah 2004
(about 1 year ago)Dark garnet color heavy body. The first thing you notice is the French Oak. This wine has almost a creamy smell to it. The vanilla of the oak compliments the dark fruit scents. This is a nice complex wine with many transformations taking place. The oak and plum flavors are in perfect harmony. 91 Wine Spectator
Montes Alpha Syrah 2004
(about 1 year ago)Inky violet-to-black with magenta rim. Lovely cherry cobbler nose. A punch of plummy fruit with a mineral backbone and a tight oak undertone. Finish is not particularly lengthy, but it's nice and makes you want another sip. Well-made wine.
Montes Alpha Syrah 2004
(about 1 year ago)Nice hit of raspberry is almost drowned out by the prevalent amount of oak on the nose. Tasty blueberry/raspberry fruit on the palate, oak is there too, clean finish. 89pts because of the amount of oak, but overall a fun wine. Not as sugary as a lot of Syrah has become lately, which I appreciated. Perfect weeknight dinner wine that won’t break the bank.
