Hogue Late Harvest White Riesling Columbia Valley 2006
(about 1 year ago)Wow. This wine is great, especially for such a young wine. Pear, honey, and pine nut aromas on the nose. A very rich, creamy, almost heavy mouth feel, with flavors of honey, apple, cream, and subtle clove. It's not a dry wine, but the creaminess and a subtle spiciness balance the sweetness. Very interesting and very good.

(about 1 year ago)Just the right amount of sweetness. Cheap at World Market. Will buy again.

(about 1 year ago)Haven't really had a sweet wine for a long time, but smelled a lot of apple and pear and that's what I tasted as well. Sweet, but not clingy and very enjoyable.

(about 1 year ago)Light, crisp, fairly sweet, has an odd over sweet/acidic reaction about 2/3 of the way through your palate. As far as flavors, I taste green apple bubblegum (a lot of it). I think this is bordering dessert wine territory and is able to hold its own with food or as an after dinner drink.

(about 1 year ago)Naysayer on this one, very quiet nose, definitly the apricot, peach, and honey, but subtle. On the palate, very much lacking in acidity. It's a tweener- not quite a really sugary desert wine, not quit there with the acidity to bring the long finish or pair with food (other than desert). Very short finish, lacking in complexity.

(6 months ago)semi-sweet, nice dessert wine. I enjoy this with fresh pears and cheese.

(4 months ago)Peaches and Honey on the nose. Some heat on the nose too, which was a disappointment. Peach and Apricot jumps out on the palate immediately. Touch of honey and (strangely) latex glove on the midpalate. Finishes overly sweet, with no lasting power. Furthermore, the sweetness/acidity ratio was off. I would expect more acidity from a Riesling. Not a bad wine, but there is far better in this price range as far as Rieslings go.
