This was awesome. After what I thought was a disappointing 2004 (which was a great Zinfandel vintage), Neal Family rebounded with a very strong effort. This is reminiscent of some of the great Ravenswood wines over the last 15 years. Medium to full bodied, with lots of dark fruit flavors that aren't sweet, but slightly floral and very pretty, with a nice structure of tannin and acid. Quasi-sweet nose, with notes of cocoa, mint and vanilla, but white flowers and cassis. Long, slightly dry finish that opens up very nicely over 4 hours. Wonderful texture and no hard edges, this is a terrific Zin for a big crowd. Had this with bone in rib eyes, and some spicy potatoes, great match. Alcohol level is high, but well masked by great winemaking. This should last 7 to 10 years.
