According to the producer, Excelsus is a limited release produced in only favorable vintages, made from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Each varietal is macerated and fermented for 20-25 days; then aged separately in French oak barrique for one year. They are blended, and further matured in the bottle for an additional one to two years.

When this wine was released it got high hopes about its ageing potential. Had it in March 2007 and it was a dissapointment. The wine seems to be past it's best. It still had some of the potential from a great vintage, but all the flavours were a little tired. Drink up.
