Etude 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Beautifully ageworthy effort from a tough vintage. This wine needs time to open up if you want to drink now but I feel it would be best in 5-10 years. There are some classic cab notes on the nose; cassis, cherry, oak, and mocha. On the palate, lots of fruit hits you at first but since the wine is young, the tannins show up pretty quick. If you do choose to drink now, have it with something hearty like a steak. Also, give it some air. I tasted once upon opening and again about 5 hours later, and boy what a difference!

(about 1 year ago)The nose had raspberry, currant, licorice, and pencil lead. The palate was smooth, with currant, raspberry, oak, and some spice. The finish was great.
