Artezin 2005 Zinfandel
(about 1 year ago)This was just OK for me. I recall liking the 2004 quite a bit more. Upfront, it's quite fruity and (almost artificially) sweet... mainly super ripe cherry, followed by some nutty-mocha and pepper flavors. It's not bad, but for the $20+, I think it's a bit overpriced. I paired it with a nice pork tenderloin, with polenta, peas, and some lovely green apples soaked in bourbon and sautéed. The meal totally trumped the wine.

(about 1 year ago)I agree that the 2004 seemed better, but the fact that I drank it while sitting on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, eating blackened chicken and pasta in a gorganzola sauce, just may have influenced my perception....maybe. I will give it another chance. I did like the old label better.

(6 months ago)nose of cherry, vanilla, pepper, cola, and some cocoa.this has some overwhelming cherry fruit flavor in the start. but it aslo gives you some spice.it's a nice easy to drink zin. not the greatest but you could do alot worse.

(4 months ago)like most California zins, this wine has quite a bit of fruit . . .for the price ($18-$22), I think you can get a more layered or complex zin . . .this one is a pretty good sip, but for the price, it doesn't compare to the single-vineyard zins by Rancho Zabacho or Ravenswood

(3 months ago)Lots of pure ripe berries and fruit on the nose. The palate is admirably styled, shows very intense and appealing creamy texture together with very well defined backbone of tannins and acidity. There is an enticing meaty depth to the flavors with a rounded finish. Excellent Zin with lots of promise for the cellar.

(1 day ago)Had this at a friend's house and seeing the price on here, I am surprised. Drinking it, I expected it would have been cheaper. Maybe if it breathed a little longer it would have been better, but I found it a bit off balance and awkward. Decent fruit and creaminess, but a bit of uncomfortable clove or licorice at the end that wasn't well-integrated for me. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it seems for the price you could do better.
