Sunday Mountain 2005 Sauvignon Blanc
(about 1 year ago)NOSE: Grassy; cat-pee; a little bit of gasoline, like two drops in the whole bottle, but still there; pool spray or perhaps ocean spray; some cream on the top; fresh motor oil; a very nice underarm smell; apple juice; baked suntan; kiwi, grapefruit, pineapple, a little bit of lime, and also lime leaves, and celery. The nose on the bottle, not the glass, exhibited other things, mostly that unmistakable odor of milk just turning sour, or perhaps buttermilk. PALATE: Spritzy/zesty, focused on the tip of the tongue: alive and enthusiastic. Nice plush mouthfeel while still remaining crisp. Darcey and I are not too used to acidity, without the tannins as a balance (we favor reds), so it seems a little acidic, but we're willing to bet that the acidity here is just about right for this type of wine. A nice clean finish, though not too long, but again we are more used to reds. This stuff tastes REAL. Not too fruity, a very nice muskiness, no fakeness, not sweet and very balanced from what we can tell. Perfect alcohol balance as I wasn't even aware of the alcohol. Back of the bottle says "classic gooseberries and tropical fruit," but we've never eaten gooseberries, and I did keep saying "I smell some kind of fruit in here, but not a sweet fruit!" Maybe that flavor-profile is gooseberries. Our first successful white wine, and this means a lot to us! We are so thankful to Gary Vaynerchuk at Winelibrary TV for recommending this wine, especially given its QPR, for we never would have found this wine otherwise, and this is the very first bottle of white wine that we have actually thoroughly enjoyed from first to last.

(about 1 year ago)Great example of New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Grass, grapefruit, cat pee, melon....yummy. Touch of sweetness I the finish that i don't like. GREAT QPR. Equals other big name wines from same region, but with bett price.

(about 1 year ago)Great, crisp, light summer wine. Excellent value. Hard to find better at this price point.
Sunday Mountain 2005 Sauvignon Blanc
(about 1 year ago)Very well balanced. Not quite as much grapefruit and tartness as other New Zealand SB's I've had. It has a bit more creaminess, but not too much like a Chardonnay want-to-be, which I really liked. This was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Found myself drinking it a bit too fast. Great price, will buy more.

(about 1 year ago)Nice wine. The acidity is not overpowering and there is some really nice fruit here. A little lime here and there. Great for summer.
Sunday Mountain 2005 Sauvignon Blanc
(about 1 year ago)Huge amount of pear and grass on the initial taste finishing with a funky blend of apricot, pear, and pineapple. There is also a bit of lemon zest zing to make the mouth sing a little bit. The finish almost has a rotten fruit quality which I don't find at all offensive.

(about 1 year ago)Maybe I should have chilled this one because the acidity killed me. BUT...some nice melon and flowers on the nose as well as a touch o'pee. As mentioned, my palate was overwhelmed by acidity, but, there was some lemon and I got a nice charcoal briquette on the finish.

(11 months ago)My favorite, everyday, summer drinking wine. Cat pee, grapefruit and tons of balanced acidity. All day on this one!
