Gunderloch "Jean-Baptiste" 2004 Riesling Kabinett
(about 1 year ago)Nose is somewhat tight, even at room temp. Lemon grass and slight petrol, some lemon thyme too, which I used to grow and is amazing. Very obvious lemonade flavor as it first hits the palate. A bit too much sugar, so I think I am being tricked by this wine. Some herbaceous notes on the mid-palate, obvious lemon zest on the finish. The sugar somewhat wanes toward the finish, leaving a little oily sensation, not petroleum but like citrus oil extract. Very intriguing, still a bit sweet to really show the complexity of the varietal. Quite good, just not knocking my socks off.
