Mad dogs & Englishmen Shiraz Cabernet Monastrell 2005
(about 1 year ago)Love the name! The wine's not bad, either. Solid tannin and tobacco in the nose; a little anise, too. The taste is very balanced, kind of chewy, with a nice tannic earthiness. I don't know much about Monastrell, which comprises 50% of the blend, but if this wine is an indication, I'd probably like it. A wine better than its price!

(10 months ago)I thought that I was getting a nice bum wine from the land of fish, chips, and CCTV. Instead I got a wine of some complexity, (insert adjectives involving fruit and spice here) and even some Structure (you know that store in the mall...). Anyhow, even though I am not homeless I like this wine.

(9 months ago)cherries and tobacco on the nose. blue fruits, cherries and plums as well as some black pepper on the palate. something just a bit awkward about this wine.

(2 months ago)Purchased this wine mostly because of the name and glad I did. A very spicy, heady concoction that hits all the right spots. Definitely tastes of ginger or pepper, with undertones of chocolate and strawberries. Eclectic and fun.
