5/5/07 very intruiging hot cocoa nose with a slight vegetal cinnamon aspect. milk chocolate/mocha on the palate with tart cherry/raspberry fruit. interesting notes of sun baked mud and dust. medium finish. lots of character for the money.

I've been scoring this wine for a few years now and passing over the 2002 while I get the last of the 2001. This wine has an amazing big league chew, booberry bubble gum, cocoa and casis nose. After it opens up it's super soft,lush with flavors of violet,cassis,blackberry mousse rolled in with baked blueberry(yes like poptart!). In a little way, with completely different grapes etc., the texture reminds me of a older, say 1996, Gaja Barbaresco with that soft, lightly creamy suede mouth feel, just not quite as pleasantly gritty. Pure joy, very unique in many respects. Superb value from an excellent vintage.
