Bonny Doon Pacific Rim Dry Riesling
(about 1 year ago)This is a lovely, balanced dry Riesling. Pale straw in color. Lovely honeyed nose. Juicy apple, hay, and honey are the predominant flavors, with a bit of petrol playing in the background. Mouthfeel is lush and sensual, but some acidity balances things out nicely. Nicely complex for an inexpensive domestic varietal. This would be a great 'go-to' wine for difficult food pairings, and it's a fantastic value at around $10.

(about 1 year ago)Presentation: Clear glass bottle with a screwtop closure. Beautiful label design. Pale straw colour. 12% ABV
Nose: Very fruity, with lots of green apple, melon, lemony citrus, and peach.
Taste: Full-bodied, bone-dry, nicely acidic. Flavour profile follows the nose; short, mildly astringent finish.
Overall: Well-balanced, easy-drinking, refreshing. Could pair well with a wide range of food.

(about 1 year ago)This is a pretty damn good wine. It is pretty complex, tasting of many fruits from an orchard. I'd say apple, pear, and maybe some citrus. It's got a crisp, clean finish and is a very good deal for the price! 08/07

(about 1 year ago)Much more of a New World style, in my opinion. Too syrupy and not enough minerality for me. I'll pass.

(12 months ago)Bought this at Target, of all places. Fell for its lovely label. Not offensive at all, in fact, very pleasant. Not quite as tasty as Kuhl Riesling. Sorry folks, that's all I can offer at this point per my amateur oenophile experience. I just knows what I likes.

(9 months ago)I agree that for the price this is a great deal. In fact, I really like it. I drank it one night while reading a good book, and even without food this wine is very solid. I'd do it again.
As for the nose, I get pineapple and melon, fer sure. Nice nose! I have a "new world" bias, I'll admit that... but this wine really hits me the right way. While it might be a bit more syrup-y than, say, water, I wouldn't call it too syrup-y. Nice balance, with a great crisp finish.
Try it, you'll like it.

(8 months ago)This is one incredible riesling! Citrus and melon on the nose; apple and strawberry jello on the mouth - crisp but yet soft finish. You will not believe that this wine is less than $15, and I've had many far less complex rieslings for more money. Pick up a bottle - you will not be disappointed.

(3 months ago)Apple and apricot on the nose. Slightly mineral up front with a touch of lemon and honey on the mid palate. Finishes clean and somewhat dry with too much heat considering the lack of flavor on the palate. Very watery. Overall, this wine was a huge disappointment. Yet another wine maker confuses dry with dull. This wine was only slightly dry, lacked complexity all over the palate, had a nearly non-existent nose and at the end of it all, wasn't really even dry. The acidity was off-balance and lackluster. At this price range, I can name at least 25 different rieslings that are better, dryer, more complex and cheaper. Overall, just poor.
