Tenuta Mormoraia 2002 Vernaccia di San Gimignano

My first foray into Vernaccia. Pale, pale straw color, nothing life changing. Nose is obvious lemon zest and a tiny hint of pine, a bit tight actually. Again, lemon hits on the palate, with a touch of minerality, reminds me a bit of Loire whites, great zingy acidity, clean and crisp mouthfeel, smooth through the mid-palate. Becomes a bit bitter on the finish which I actually like in this wine, short finish, and a nice floral aspect comes in after the bitterness wears off. Very polished bottle of wine, no cheapness at all. This is a 2002 and I imagine it can go even longer with it's confident acidity, this WHITE varietal tends to mature well. I really enjoyed this wine, for 10.99 it's a screaming bargain.
