This wine I really like. It's my everyday quaffer and at 4.50 euros it's a bargin for what it offers. On the nose is a wonderful mixture of coffee grounds, cocoa powder and white pepper. On first taste it may come across as a simple wine but I have found that left to decant for an hour or two just brings out a lot of complexity. It's not a typical Ribera del Duero which can be big tannic fruit bombs but shows more finesse and polish. This wine only saw 4 months in oak but you wouldn't know it from the wonderful amount of mixed spices you get like cinnamon, vanilla and pepper. This wine expands well in the glass and is very much the "last glass was the best" so should be given ample time to open up. I find it a real food wine as the tannins are velvety but with enough grip to stand up to most foods and the acid is fresh and persistent enough to balance out loads of grilled plum, cherry and chocolate flavors. This isn't a wine that will improve for more than 3-5 years as it lacks a bit of stuffing but hey! who cares. If your looking for a fresh lively everyday quaffer at an fantastic price point then look no farther. I highly recommend this little beauty.
