For me, the nose was just like brandy, maybe some kind of fruit brandy. When I drank it, I got some grape juice to start with soft cherry. Maybe a small bit of chocolate, a little butter, and some smoke and tannins to wrap it up. Not bad at all. Its good to drink while sitting around and relaxing. I would buy it again if on sale, but not for the $18 I shelled out for it.

The nose of this wine will have you wondering if you opened a bottle of after dinner liqour. There is a hard alcohol with fruit aroma. This might be good for cocktail'ers but not exactly my taste. Mouthfeel makes up a bit for the nose. This wine is super smooth and easy to drink. It has a new world style fruit forward attack on the palate. The fruit is way over the top contributing to the wine being juicy. I can't see folks being so so on this flavor. You will probably like it or be way turned off. If you drink a lot of wine you might analyze it enough you find yourself giving it an good score but not great or average. I think I am in that boat. If I served this to one group of my friends I know they would love it... I have another group of friends that wouldn't drink something like this. I was kinda perplexed... I hated the nose... the fruit was out of control... but I really liked the mouthfeel. For $18 its not a steal... but I don't know of a lot of wine that delivers that mouth feel for that money. There are a ton of wines that have better aroma & flavor in that price band. I'm confused. If I see this on sale for $12 I'll buy a couple for the group of friends that likes this style. Note: I also tried this with cheese and that works. For fun pair it with dish that has a bacon component.

A little harsh on the nose -- strong alcohol notes, with a little fruit, a little confusing. Palate is somewhat explosive with fruit -- awesome, if you like juicy wines. Slightly one dimensional, but great none-the-less. Finishes with slight tannins, adding a bit of chalk to the overall fruit, great to drink -- still working on pairings. Try it with a creamy Brie and a nice Baguette, brings out the smooth mid-palate and chalky finish -- good wine! Edit: On the second bottle I have to up my score and add the obvious dark chocolate notes on the mid palate and finish (how did I miss those the first time?) crazy good -- loving this wine.

Ripe fruit- raspberries, I think- on the nose, with a little bit of an old-world vegetal aspect- not dirty or stinky, but a little bit of green. It started out with a bit too much alcohol on the nose, but I decanted for about forty-five minutes and that receded. There's also a little bit of a smoked wood on the nose, and maybe a little bit of bacon fat. I remember having had this once before and thinking that it was much stinkier; maybe that bottle had been sitting open longer. The mouth feel is what really sells this wine for me. The tannins are supple, it grips the mouth, and the finish is long and enjoyable. Lots of fruit here, but again that vegetal aspect that I'm having trouble describing. Anyway, for $14 I consider this wine to be a great buy.
