Chehalem 2006 INOX Chardonnay
(about 1 year ago)I really enjoyed this wine - my first experience with an un-oaked Chardonnay. Very light color - beautiful nose. Wonderful chardonnay characteristics without any oak. Nice pear and apple, honey and strong doses of tropical fruits. Wonderful acidity - a really well-made, well-structured wine. The 14.9% alcohol was not overwhelming. I enjoy a good, oaky, buttery chard, but this really was delicious. And it makes for really fantastic food pairing. Scoring was tough given my inexperience with "naked" chardonnay, but if they're all as good as this one, I'll be drinking a lot more. May not be a total steal at $17, but still a good deal worth checking out.
