2004 Turning Leaf Riesling
(over 2 years ago)Newbie review: This is the best of the Rieslings I have tried recently. It is from Turning Leaf, but it is actually imported from Pfalz, Germany. It tastes very balanced to me. I don't like wine too sweet, and this seemed to hit the right amount for me.

(over 2 years ago)In my experience, Turning Leaf's domestic wines have been average at best. On the other hand, their imported Riesling is the best wine that I have drunk from the Turning Leaf label. The blurb on the label describes the 2004 as exhibiting "lovely floral aromas with hints of honeydew melon and white peach." These flavors come together to make a very tasty, summery wine that is balanced with enough acidity to give it an edge, but not so much that it tastes sour. My wife commented that this acid edge almost felt effervescent. Very drinkable, and the bottle this evening was a delicious accompaniment to an almond chicken salad.

(about 1 year ago)Nice semisweet Riesling. Has a very nice grape taste with a tart, lingering finish. Good aperitif, am looking forward to trying with food. Had a slight bitterness in the aftertaste which kept it from being a 5-star, but an excellent beginners or table wine for the price.
