(8 months ago)Smells of cherry, black currant, smoked bacon, and a little spice.
Tastes like a big, weighty, complex-yet-balanced syrah with no artificial flavoring. Naturally sweet (no sugar added) cherries, blackberries, and something almost meaty that reminds me of the bits of ham my grandmother cooked in her green beans. There's also a bit of pepper and other spices that don't overwhelm. The flavors are round and flood my entire palate, working in perfect harmony--no off-balanced act here.
The finish is long and silky, with something right at the end that's floral or doughy. That finish caught me pleasantly off-guard after my very first sip.
This is among my favorite reds, and it easily bests every Australian shiraz I've had (that I haven't tasted 10+ years post-vintage).

(8 months ago)This is one of my favorite bottles. I really enjoy everything about this wine. Its a 96% Syrah and 4% Viogner blend. That touch of Viogner really helps make the wine special. The color is closer to ruby red. The wines aroma has a splendid mocha and espresso. There is also the bacon fat component expected in these wines. The flavors include raspberry and currant. The wine is soft, smooth & rich. It's really wonderful stuff.

(7 months ago)Wonderful bouquet, with a hint of strawberry, dark cherry and a touch of mint. Nice mouthfeel, lush, smooth on the palate. Dark cherry, black raspberry on the finish. A little bit of a meat component, like a smoked sausage. Nice, smooth tannins. Long finish. This is good stuff.
