Local name for the Tempranillo grape is Cencibel. The region is Castilla-La MAncha, which cork'd does not list as an option (yet ... I hope they will add this important Spanish region soon!)

Bodegas Ercavio Tempranillo Roble 2005
(11 months ago)NOSE: Fruity, hot bricks, dusty rocks. Good nose, very classic Tempranillo as we have come to experience it; one can smell the heat of the day in this wine. Blackberry predominates, with hints of grape kool-aid opening up to tobacco smoke blended with sweet cream, or perhaps crème brûlée. Hints of gun-metal coming through after a few hours. PALATE: Initially this wine is not as tannic as one might expect with only a medium-body mouthfeel, but ultimately it opened up to a richer, more robust red more in line with classic Tempranillo (or Cencibel, which I understand to be the local term for the Tempranillo grape variety). The blackberry that was on the nose translated to the palate as well while both also exhibited notes of grape kool-aid. This is an exceptional value for a Spanish wine at $7.99, and good as a "school-night" quaffer. WOULD WE DRINK IT AGAIN? Yes, absolutely, Darcey especially liked this one, perhaps more than me, but I really trust her palate so, yes, we would most definitely drink this one again. WOULD WE BUY IT AGAIN? Yes, at this QPR I believe we have found an inexpensive favorite; we'll order at least a bottle or two with every case, for now.

(10 months ago)Bouquet: Hi-C Grape Juice Powder mixed with blackberries and a tinge of alcohol. Flavor Profile: Fruit Bomb! Think flat Boylans Grape Soda and blend in Huckleberries, Blackberries and Grape Jam. Very fun and total BBQ wine. For the price it is a must. Could adapt to any Burger, Sausage, BBQ whatever. It's like a bubbly girl who digs Jon Stewart. Just fun.

(9 months ago)Better than most at this price; however, too sweet and rough edged for my taste.

(8 months ago)Dark fruitish bouqet, smooth mouth feel, blackberries, raspberries, black currant, a great value at $8

(6 months ago)Great purple color, looks very extracted for a 100% Tempranillo. Aroma of blueberry and dark fruit, but with a mossy dark forest tobacco feel (if you can imagine!). Flavor is bursting with dark fruits, and a nice level of acidity for a medium-bodied wine, it's not overpowering. I would have liked more tannin, as the finish wasn't as long or full as you'd think from the Wine Advocate review (they say 40 seconds, which I totally disagree with). If you're not a tannin junkie, this is a very very good value, and enjoyable with a wide variety of heavier foods like duck, pork, burgers, etc.

(5 months ago)Aroma of rubber bands, strawberries and cinnamon. Not a good start, but not a horrible tasting wine. Somewhat shallow yet drinkable.
