2004 Macphail Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)2004 Macphail Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Macphail has a lot of hype, and with good reason. This, their basic Sonoma Coast from a blend of various vineyards, is a complex, gorgeous Pinot. A blend of 5 different clones, this has wonderful texture and is highly expressive. The nose contains a beautiful mix of spice and red fruits. On the palate, this baby explodes, with a broad array of flavors- cocoa powder, strawberries, blackberries, and baking spice. The 60 second finish brings out lovely floral components, especially a striking note of lavender. This wine is a pleasure to experience, and an excellent example of why Sonoma Coast is so hot right now.
