2005 Caymus Conundrum
(about 1 year ago)I have always been a fan of this blend from Caymus and knew it would meet with some unexpected raves. When the waiter brought the bottle to the table and proceeded to open the screw cap, I was the subject of more that a few jeers, but drinking it was another thing. Great peach and lime in the nose this floral and citrus full white was a great start to the evening. 88 points.

(11 months ago)This wine is just so much fun. It’s got a good amount of sweetness upfront (but not in a gross sugary sucrose way), with all kinds of tropical fruit, and peach flavors. That blends into a good deal of creaminess on the mid-palate, a little bit of spice, just the right amount of oak, and ending up in a nice citrusy finish. Frankly, I think this wine is just delicious. Well worth the price of admission.

(10 months ago)Great, very interesting, fun white wine. Besides the very balanced, yet intriguing blend of grape varietals packed into it, I enjoyed especially the sweet honey/powdered sugar finish that the muscat grape gives it. Gorgeous wine that went very well with some goat cheese and gruyere.

(10 months ago)Syrupy sweet. Nice complexity. Hard to define. Alcohol a little intense for me.

(10 months ago)Nose: bright peach with floral notes. A very happy little nose. Palate: The mouthfeel is quite nice, with a full body, and it finishes long with flower petals and apple. Very enjoyable. Not quite cloying, though it is dancing a fine line for me as I am not generally a fan of oak and butter. Maybe a few more glasses and I would have been totally won over....as it was, I certainly enjoyed it.

(5 months ago)slightly fruity, very sweet, lacks body, mouthfeel and complexity. For 28 I could buy a lot more.

(4 months ago)We've always loved this "constructed" white wine, but this vintage was a little over the hill.
