Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend 2005
(about 1 year ago)This wine tastes like hard candy. Buy it when people are coming over who won't appreciate the old world complexity of more traditional wines. There's some tangerine on the palate, but mostly a "fake" fruity candy flavor. This is the kind of wine I would individually wrap and sell by the bag under the brand "Tangerinoes!"

(about 1 year ago)Very surprised at the taste. Very smooth all the way through and heavy in the mouth. I got a feta taste in the mid pallet. For the $, definitely worth it.

(about 1 year ago)I tried this wine after having heard Gary V.'s review, so perhaps it biased me. On the nose, it's buttery with the strength of the alcohol coming through. It's initially intensely sweet, almost no mid-palate that I could detect, followed by a lengthy oak finish. I suppose I agree with Gary that the lingering (and dominate) oak flavor is undesirable. I just didn't get much besides a short burst of sweet fruit and oak. Tried it again after having it open for a good part of the next day. Not much change. Was better in small doses with food - somehow damped the oak a bit.

(12 months ago)Candied fruits and a bit of the oak monster. Alcohol was a bit too intense, but settled down after about 30 minutes.

(11 months ago)Definitely a fruit bomb, but not as much as I hoped. This was the first non-jug wine to make an appearance at an annual camping trip that started 20+ years ago (when my wife was a kid). Heavy on the alcohol and a little heavy on the oak. My bottle was sitting in the cooler all day and was still a little cool come campfire so the fruit was held back a bit. I liked it and the wife liked it, but I drank like 12 Bud Lights during the day, so there you go.

(9 months ago)BIG taste - kind of like a kick in the mouth.

(8 months ago)Beautiful deep purple color, wonderful blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot and Franc thrown in to round things out. Complex, fruity, alcoholic wine with an unusual but pleasant taste.

(6 months ago)Good nose, very fruity with an interesting vegetal component coming through. Lots of fruit on the mouth. This wine is spicy, and the tannins are firm but there is a lot of alcohol. The finish is smooth.
