Great tobacco nose from the first pour. It then mellows out to a very well-balanced blackberry/cherry flavor, fairly dry with some hints of nutmeg and clove. We had this out at a restaurant with a roasted chicken with foie gras -- not a traditional pairing, but it was quite tasty as this wine is, like the previous poster mentioned, very 'old world' and subtle.

Unfortunately this review is late after tasting a couple of weeks ago. The wine resembled good varietal character for Pinot Noir but was definitely more of an old-world style. I have never had a wine from Burgundy before, but I'd guess they have traits similar to the notes I found in this wine. It wasn't too in-your-face, but it was reserved, reserved correctly.
