(about 1 year ago)Wonderfully complex nose...cotton candy, twizzlers, cherry pie. On the palate, low tannins, low acidity. Sour fruit and black currant, no finish at all...unimpressive, even at $8. Luckily I only purchase one bottle.

(about 1 year ago)Smooth and easy drinking. Weak mouth feel, almost watery. Simple, one dimensional. Somewhat sour finish. Poor QPR, which isn't good at this price point.

(about 1 year ago)Malbec: the Merlot of shallow-pocket connoisseurs, drink of the budget Gods. Malbec: all we ask from you is those big round fruity fruits; we don't ask for acidity, or tannin structure, we don't even ask for silky texture. Just make us happy and tipsy at the same time.
We're so reasonable with Malbec, why would Trapiche let us down? The profile on the nose is good, but you can barely smell it and the juice disappears on the palate under a watery texture. With some time in the open air, the finish becomes less bitter, but the fruits don't open up at all. Shop is closed for fruits today. Oh, Malbec!
I give it an 80 - Argentina, represent!

(10 months ago)much better after being decanted 2 hours. still was 'single layered', overly tannic. maybe will be better in a few years.

(7 months ago)I get black berries/mulberry/plum dark concentrated fruit in the nose with a little touch of lilac that wafts in at the end. The oak in the nose is there but quite subtle compared to its presence in the flavor. There is some serious oak that steals a little too much of the show up front and the once the oak taxi drops you off at the fruit farm you feel like you missed something. Drops you off into some dark berries with some small amount of hungarian paprika. It leaves me wanting a little something more in the finish. It tapers off quite fast.

(4 months ago)Bold cherry flavors. Finish is short and leaves you wanting more. Honestly I'm not unpleased with the this bottle. For the price it could be much worse. I'm not going to rush out and buy another bottle, but I may pick one up for a second or third bottle of an evening.
