Finca El Portillo 2006 Rosé Malbec
(about 1 year ago) buddy icon brianhmb 91.0/100
El Portillo is a robust refreshing alternative to the bland summer alternatives flooding the market. Wonderful smooth red fruit flavors - not at all sweet. This wine is would pair nicely with grilled fish, pasta cooked in a light oil sauce or stand alone mid-afternoon on a nice summer day. Performs well with all classes of drinkers and it won't break the bank. I've assigned such a high rating based on flavor and body as compared with price. On sale now at BevMo as of 01/Jul/07 – I recommend a case at this price.

First I should disclose that I am not a Rose fan, but I bought this on sale and very much like the El Portillo Malbec. There is a distinct Twizlers red licorice smell. I have had this same experience with the one other Rose I had in the past year. Maybe that is a Rose thing. Fairly dry, ok finish.
