2006 Fetzer Gewurztraminer
(about 1 year ago)Sweet pear flavor is all over this one with a mouth feel like it is carbonated. Overall a great wine.

(about 1 year ago)Very sweet. Very fruity. Very good wine. A very easy drinking wine.

(about 1 year ago)Nose is a very rich honey and something like pear, and a floral element. Wonderful mouth feel, sweet with apricot, peach, pear and that wonderful honey. Served room temp, a little acidic should be better slightly chilled. I could see this with spicy food, shrip, desert etc. My first Gewurzt, loving it.

(about 1 year ago)I only paid $7 for this wine, so I really wasn't expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised, though. On the nose, hints of florals, apple, a little pear. On the mouth, there's a reasonable weight to the feel, and the taste is slightly sweet with strong (though not sherbetty) fruit, a little honey, just the faintest hint of wood, and neat though not overwhelming acidity. There's a slight spritz to it as it's poured and in the few hours after it's opened, which disappeared 24 hours later when I finished the bottle. The flavours opened up surprisingly well on that 24 hour tasting, though, so I might even recommend giving this one a year to see if it develops into something even more intriguing. The finish wasn't long, but was pleasant while it lasted. Overall, this wine was a great value. I'd recommend it readily to friends, and to anyone serving asian cuisine: it paired beautifully with my spicy pad thai.

(10 months ago)Fruity and pleasant. Nose of apricots, spicy peach and a touch of hard-to-put-a-finger-on floral scents. There is a good balance between its sweetness and bright crisp acidity. There is also a fizzyness to the tongue that made me check the bottle to see if it was sparkling! The "carbonation" feeling dwindles in about as much time as it takes to say "Fetzer Gewurztraminer" five times. A versatile wine that was great with spicy Thai food.

(9 months ago)Takes like drinking a slightly browned apple (but not like apple juice). Also getting touch of raisins, honey, and apricot. FYI - I drank it at room temp. Overall, surprisingly good for $6-7, certainly wouldn't avoid it - but kinda boring and too sweet (to cover the lack of complexity I imagine). Not very crisp for a gewurtz (no crisp pear flavor)

(2 months ago)I noticed a little bubble activity or sense of it too. Not as pronounced as some Gewürztraminer but overall a decent tasty wine.

(about 1 month ago)Strong flavor of peach, with hints of honey and apricot. In the mouth, a touch of carbonation which quickly disappears. Finish - first glass had a mild woody taste, but the second glass didn't show this. Would be good with light foods such as hors d'oeuvres or a light cheese. Possible also with a spicy food, as suggested earlier. Not a "special" wine, but one that is very comfortable to sip or drink.
