Muga 2003 Rioja Reserva
(about 1 year ago)Great dark color. Very aromatic with hints of black cherry, chocolate, and tobacco. Full-bodied with loads of dark cherry on the palate. Silky, silky smooth mouth feel that finishes off with vanilla, pepper and an enjoyable amount of oak.

(12 months ago)This came off more like a Zin... and not a good one. I was left unimpressed, but not horrified. It was fruity and a bit bitter. Pairing it with food saved the evening. Gives a bad name to Rioja.

(6 months ago)Nice nose with fruit and some vegetables (asparagus?). Caught some of the vegetable flavors mixed with blackberries and chocolate. Lots of plum and other fruits on the mid-palate, and a nice finish of black pepper as well as some vanilla and oak (although in moderation). The finish had a decent duration and was smooth with a good balance of tannins.
