Aroma of citrus and rock. Flavor of citrus, apple and a bit of melon. Lush in the mouth with a long mouth-watering finish. Although the alcohol is 16.6% (!), it does not take over.

Absolutely incredible. The terroir of Sta. Rita Hills is matched by few regions for the complexity it brings out of its Chardonnay, and Greg Brewer excels at coaxing out Chard's more subtle side. The nose exhibits green apple, reminiscent of a sour apple Jolly Rancher, along with hints of honeydew melon and lime. On the palate, this wine is explosive- its rich texture coats the mouth with lemons and limes, margarita salt, green apple, and subtle floral notes. There is also a lingering minerality that pleasantly haunts the finish. So few are able to truly capture the essence of Chardonnay, but with Diatom, Brewer has captured a very singular sense of place. While the alcohol is incredibly high, this wine is completely in balance, and manages to exude a powerful elegance.
