Etude 2005 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Darker color for a pinot, especially compared to the Anthill Farms that was sampled at the same time, but still a medium ruby. Very light on the palate with red fruits and low acidity. Very delicate, with light tannins that roll over the tongue to a medium-long finish. The wine paired well with a baked tomato-mozzarella tart, but still was quite expensive for what it was. At $20, I would buy this wine again, but not at these prices...
Etude 2005 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Nice color - lighter like a pinot should be but not so clear that you fear it lacks body or depth. Nose of cherry and raspberry with a definite earth/vegetal note coming through nice and strong. Tastes of cherry and a bit of spice with soft tannins and some mineral/earth. From my understanding of Pinot Noir, this wine seems to be an absolute hybrid of classic Burgundy and new-word Cali Pinot. My only complaint is that in playing both roles, I'm not sure it captured either as well as it could. Went great with food, but at $40+, there are better options out there.
