Not as full-bodied as most Zins I've had, but plenty of fruity flavor and more tannins than more mature vintages.

Not as full-bodied and more tannins than in more mature Zins I've had. Still, it has a big fruit taste with an inoffensive end.

More earth and barnyard than I was looking for - fat, too much alcohol, and vegetable aspects overpowering the fruit. Huge heat on the end. The only reason I gave it above 80 points was the price - Ravenswood markets this as an everyday Zinfandel, but there are much better Zins at this price point (Ridge Three Valleys, anyone?)

beautiful raspberry on the nose with a touch of tobacco and spice. sour fruit on the attack with nice earthy tobacco mid-palate and spicy pepper finish. well balanced but a bit one dimensional. good value.

This wine is just boring. It's not BAD, it's just blah. There just wasn't much flavor and it seemed somewhat watery. The nose had some hints of strawberry (or raspberry) and rubberband, but it took awhile to really smell anything at all except rubbing alcohol. The flavor was just not very defining, but there was some slight oak and it was very dry and alcoholic. I felt like this was just a boring wine with no defining characteristics. Maybe it could be greatly enhanced with a perfect food pairing, but I was not impressed.

Wednesday Night Wine - we watched the Wednesday, March 12, 2008 Big Brother show, followed by the American Idol Show. I sipped this while watching. Then we ordered a Meat Feast Pizza and a Deluxe Calzone from the local Rotolo's Pizzeria. I finished the bottle with the pizza and calzone. Very nice - great legs - has the Zin thing going on - good for a weeknight. Bosyenberry, blackberry, and raisin on the nose and all that and cherry on the palate - nice spice finish. For the price - can't go wrong. I really want to try the next 2 tiers of Ravenswood Zins. Recommend for a lazy week night. Did not disappoint me. I was delighted!

Light color. Nose is raspberry with hints of horseradish. Some wet logs. White & black pepper. Light bodied. A little off balance. Not much of a flavor profile. Very mediocre. Their motto is "No wimpy wines" but that is exactly what this is. A "C" effort.
