(over 2 years ago)A very good entry-level wine. Strong, rich flavour, like many New World wines. Can be drunk with or without food. Reasonably priced, great value.

(over 2 years ago)Gotta give props to the Gato. It's mad cheap but it isn't disappointing. The Gato served as my bridge from drinking cheap shit wine to respectable stuff, thus I respect the Gato.
Gato Negro 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)This wine will not offend anyone, but isn't particularly interesting either. It is fruity but the taste is a bit 'too much' for my liking. I will not buy it again.
Gato Negro 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)I agree with my cohorts above me here... for an entry-level Cab, and for about $5 a bottle, it really doesn't hurt to keep a bottle around the house! I found it pretty darn good with a burger & fries while watching my Sunday afternoon football. It's not overpowering, so it fit just right.
Gato Negro 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Very powerful berry/black currant aroma, which overpowers any other more subtle notes. Taste is more or less poor, but covered by sweetness. The coffee equivalent to this wine would be a triple-triple. For the price, this is a very drinkable people-pleaser, but it's not a good bottle of wine.
Gato Negro 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)This wine didm't have anything bad about it. However, it had absolutely no *good* points. It just tasted like the most generic red wine you can imagine. It could have been worse, it could have not tasted like red wine. I say, spend an extra 3 dollars a bottle and get something in the "drinkable" range. I've seen more than one hobo with this bottle after I drank it. And now it all makes sense.
Gato Negro 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(11 months ago)Oh, Gato, your logo is miles cuter than Chuck Schwab, but you are nonetheless pretty disgusting. Chile has much better to offer. Even a couple drinks in, Gato is just Bad. Falls someone between bland and acrid. I wanted a good cheap fruity traveling-in-Chile-playing-at-bohemian-lit-student wine; I got sour grapes. Even the bonfire didn't make this one fun. I guess I'm a snob. Maybe one could make sangria with it?
