Rosenblum Petite Sirah Heritage Clones 2005

Bouquet: FRUIT BOMB!!!! Like dipping your sugar stick into a big pile of grape dust. Powerful, uninhibited nose that spells out F-U-N. Flavor Profile: Blueberry Jam meets hints of sour cherries and touches of chocolate covered strawberries. This is a FRUIT WINE. Loaded with dark red and purple fruit. Alcohol is present but the fruit overpowers it. Think a great pop song that you can't get out of your head. Not Mozart, definitely Michael Jackson! Go buy it and drink it and dance, dance, dance...

I love it! I agree with the previous reviewer on the fruit. There's also another level of spice to this that really makes it for me.

First, the color. This wine is borderline black. It's the darkest, deepest purple wine I've ever seen. The taste follows through with a bold fruit and pepper taste that's anything but "thin". Huge amounts of blackberries, pepper, chocolate, currants, and cherries smack you in the mouth. The 2004 was equally as good and the 2006 isn't bad either (may just need a little bottle age). For the price, I don't think you could go wrong no matter what vintage you find of this wine. I've had other Rosenblum wines that I've been very impressed with for the price (typically Zinfandels). It appears Rosenblum has their act together. My wife has labeled this wine as her favorite and we have a 500 bottle cellar so that's saying something. I just found that Wine Library got another shippment of this in stock so I purchased 6 more bottles. I've seen (and purchased) it at local stores also so it should be fairly easy to locate (again, even the 2006 is good, but I'd still call the 2004 and 2005 an order of magnitude better).
