Our Castle Rock Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown in Sonoma County, which is recognized as one of the finest Pinot Noir growing regions in California. Here, the marine influences from the Pacific Ocean provide cooling breezes which give ideal conditions for Pinot Noir grapes, characterized by rich, crisp fruit flavors. This elegant well-balanced wine offers aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate there are flavors of plum and cherry with oak nuances, and the finish is long and harmonious.

Castle Rock 2006 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)This wine smells like a jelly doughnut with some pepper sprinkled on top. It tastes a little artificial but has ample flavors of grapes and black cherries. The wine starts off great, covering your whole palate, but the finish leaves a little to be desired as the wine disappears a little too quickly for my taste. This wine was enjoyable, but not amazing.

(about 1 year ago)appearance: clear light ruby. Nose: wood, earthy spice. taste: balanced berry, subtle spice. Gets sweeter as it airs.
Castle Rock 2006 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Medium ruby color. Very new world nose of fruity candy, wood, alcohol and a tiny bit of funk. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, round, and pleasant. Taste of alcohol, wood and candy predominate. The wood and alcohol predominate on a disorganized finish.
Castle Rock 2006 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Earthy, with hints of strawberry on the nose -- not too overpowering or impressive. In the mouth it is similar, starts subtle then the strawberries get ripping, and explode with a lot of sweetness (too much so for my taste) and finishes fast with a little peppery-ness. Overall an OK wine, too strawberry jam for my taste though. Does get smoother and sweeter after about... 30-50 mins. in the decanter.
Castle Rock 2006 Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)Bright and fresh fruit....applesauce, cherries, and plum. Austere and musty behind all of the fruit. I like the NW/OW balance. Really tasty stuff. Good complexity.
