Cuatro Pasos 2004
(about 1 year ago)I picked this wine because I wanted to try a new grape and Mencia fit the bill. The nose was apparent just on opening the bottle. It consists of plum, violet, leather, and earthy mushrooms. On the palate, the plum continues, along with cherry and a very distinct mineral quality. The wine seems to stay very much at the front of your mouth, and it has a lightly tannic, juicy finish. I'm quite satisfied with this experiment. Definitely a nice buy for $10.
