In my opinion, this wine is coming from “thee” under the radar winery in Walla Walla that makes some excellent wines in the old world style and a place you’re very likely going to be hearing about in years to come. In my stem this has one of the most beautiful colors a white wine can show. The nose brings a ton of wet rock, minerally components, some farm hay, almost like you took a soaked rock and rolled it around in a pile of dry hay and then crammed it into your nostril. It’s very apparent that the wine maker is gearing this wine up for the old world, there is hardly any oak on the nose and it’s really just a seductive, intoxicating nose. I’m loving the bouquet on this wine. In the mouth the wine is lush and evocative, just slightly creamy for you new world fans but this wine is staying out of the dairy section for sure. There are some wet rock components coming through as well as a little metallic essence, kind of like eating nice fresh grapes off a delicious wet metal lunch box. The finish is slightly tart but rolls into a very nice velvety smooth finish. I’m really into this wine. I’m not a chardonnay drinker, I tend to avoid new world chardonnays like fast food and people with bad BO. But this wine is stellar. It’s very old world, I love the lack of oak, or lack of overpowering oak, and this is major GREEN light girl for me. For $28, yeah, this is diving off into the expensive end of the pool but if you’re into whites, especially chardonnays, it’s worth it.
