Monteviejo Lindaflor Malbec 2002
(10 months ago)Full bodied, good color. NOSE: Rasberry/Cranberry aromas with an under lying lush red fruit. PALATE: Rich mouthfeel with some vanilla aspects and a little licorice. Nice finish.

(10 months ago)Beautiful dark red color. Very expressive and delicious bouquet. Full bodied, very lush, very velvety, great mouthfill. On the negative, some heat sticks out, and some tannins can cellar in bottle a few years longer. Not completely integrated tannins, oak and fruit, but offers opportunity for cellaring.

(10 months ago)I get something from the aroma of this wine I can't quite put my finger on. Perhaps the clove mentioned by someone else here. But, it just hit me, it's rubber, like a brand new bike tire. It smells like my local bike store, that's it. LOL, ok, that's weird. I like this wine, it's velvety on the tongue, the tannins are softer, but still definitely there. great food wine! edit: ok, 2nd day on the wine. having it with steak off the grill. OMG, it's great today. I don't know if its the steak-wine combo or what, but I feel like this wine is just as good today as it was yesterday, maybe even better. The combo with the steak is right on!

(10 months ago)Smooth floral nose, very full body and some heat at the finish. All the nice full dark berries and fruit aromatics you expect from a bold red, but not too sweet. I enjoyed this wine but it was a bit dry for my mood this night. It may score better with me with steak or a few years down the road.

(10 months ago)Nose of figs combined with berry jolly ranchers in a fruit-stained oak barrel. High alcohol, but lovely mouthfeel. The tannins have fully integrated in this bottle and the finish is very peppery. Fruity flavor, but alcohol overpowered all but the strawberry aspect. I'd say this is a "drink now" wine as I don't see it having the stuff to continue to improve. Very tasty.

(10 months ago)This is a super-tasty wine, but for the price you can get a malbec that doesn't kill you in the finish with alcohol. I just can't give something that off-balanced anything 90+. However, that could settle after some time on the rack. If so, maybe a 91-92 pointer. Sort of disappointed, but my wife liked it a good bit - and that always helps.
