Popped and poured with no decantar. Color of dark ruby plums with no bricking at all. Amazing considering that this wine is 17 years old with 40% merlot. Intially, there are strong aromas of a dirty stale lake that blows off quickly with beautiful scent of tobacco, milk chocolate and pencil lead. First pour was quite closed on the palate but I could get a sense of what was to come with some air time. And I was right within 45 mins this wine was singing tones of dark fruit dominated by sweet black cherries, slight currants and chocolate with so many secondry flavors that one could just sit in a corner with the glass in amazament. What a skily wine that coated your entire platate and lasted for a good 50 sec's on the finish. The only thing lacking from this wine to be perfect was entry to the palate did not have enough fruit. This was an amazing bottle that shows why bordeaux is one of the better, if not the best, wine making regions in the world.
