Garnacha de Fuego 2006 Old Vines
(about 1 year ago)A deep magenta in color, this Old Vines Grenach's aromas are drivn by it's pepper spice and and jammy cherries, with a hint of tar peeking through. It is a medium bodied wine with nicely balanced acidity, berry fruit and again dominated by spiciness.

(about 1 year ago)Solid Grenache with rich berry flavors. Slightly musty undertones are buried by rich tannins.

(about 1 year ago)Nose: cherries, cloves, and maybe a hint of tobacco smoke. There were cranberry flavors and some definate spice (especially on the finish). The finish reminded me of Welch's Grape Jelly. This wine has a great flavor; especially for the fall/winter! The spice really gave me a mental picture of Thanksgiving meals and Christmas Eve. I think it would be fantastic with holiday meals and on cold winter nights. I went out and bought another bottle because it was on sale for $5.99! You can't beat that, and I am looking forward to the temperature dropping some more so that I can enjoy it again.

(about 1 year ago)Yummy red berries on the nose that had me super excited for this wine. Unfortunately they didn't carry through to the finish. The attack was fairly nice & fruity (a little hot as the name might suggest) but towards the finish I got a bit overwhelmed by the peppery spices & bitter tannins. Even so, for the price I'm not dissatisfied.

(about 1 year ago)I must not know what I'm doing because I'm getting very little fruit with a lot of vegetal flavors in this wine. I do agree with the spicy/peppery finish that is somewhat meaty. I'm still working on developing my palate for individual flavors, so that's a specific as I can get. I will say that this wine changed in flavor significantly after having been opened for a while. I liked it much better the second day.

(11 months ago)I bought this wine on a whim and feel that I made a wise choice. The body is spicy and full of cherries and fruit. It ends with a decently heavy combination of tannins and spice. That being said I've much enjoy this wine and like the earlier reviewer said it feels very seasonal to me. And while it's not a Marietta Old Vine Red it is an excellent wine for the price.

(9 months ago)Strong nose of cherries and tart cherries. The mouthfeel is good. Medium body with a good structure. Hints of oak join in and follow in the long finish. Overall, a simple wine but does its job! A good value.
