"Thea's Selection is named after Dorothy Lemelson, Eric's mother, who always wanted to be called Thea when she was young. She likes rich, satisfying Pinots, with lush fruit, soft tannins, and enough "backbone" (structure and acidity) to pair easily with fine cuisine. Thea wants her wine to embody the complexity that comes from low yields and minimal intervention in the winery, but she doesn't want to have to wait three years for her Pinots to reach peak drinkability. Thea's is indeed a "selection," a reserve-level blend that combines individual barrels from any or all of our six vineyards. We select barrels that show the most forward, perfumed fruit, with good complexity and length. We have Thea's wishes in mind when we blend this Pinot noir, and have tried to please her. We hope you are also pleased with the result!" -Winery

Lemelson Thea's Pinot Noir 2005
(about 1 year ago)Barnyard nose, but with a lot of other things going on... sorry, I don't have more notes, but it was something I had a restaurant, and I don't like to take obvious notes in public. Very smooth all the way through, well integrated fruit and tannins... long-a** finish... my kind of wine!

(about 1 year ago)Thick and tasty. A great nose, but definitely a New World, jammy taste. This is delicious, but there are so many other, more interesting Pinot Noirs out there, IMO.

(about 1 year ago)Smooth and slightly jammy. Not as cloying as some recent - too sweet - pinots who will remain nameless. Flavors hit early and trail off to a nice finish. Overally pretty darn nice, but agree there are more interesting pinots to be had.

(10 months ago)Dark in color for a pinot, which turns me off a bit. Some nice funkiness to the nose which I enjoy...like overturned sod with a couple worms. Nose also has pretty red apples and cinnamon. Chewy red fruits, both ripe and sour, followed by black pepper and oakiness on the lengthy finish. Nice wine, but I agree with others that it lacks excitement...nothing too interesting about it.

(10 months ago)I disagree with those that complain this wine wasn't exciting or interesting enough.. it's an old world style pinot with subtle character. That being said, it is delicious and amazingly smooth - you'd swear it's non-alcoholic. Velvety tannins, long finish. Dusty aromas. Paired great with lamb.
