Sokol Blosser Evolution, 11th Edition
(about 1 year ago)This was pretty fun. A total impulse buy based on the clever packaging (and i was expecting the worst), but it was really quite good. It's just a crazy, crazy wine, with flavors of peach, mango, passion fruit, and strawberry all up front (all the flavors of the fruit, but not in a saccharin-sugar overload kinda thing), and then you're hit with a really nicely balanced acidity in the finish that rounds it out just right. Very nice.

(10 months ago)My go-to hostess gift bottle that has yet to meet an objection. Definitely a crowd pleaser- a bit sweet but is crisp and has good acid, has complexity but it's easy-drinking. Think of Caymus Conundrum, but simpler. Lots of lush, tropical fruit. Floral nose. It's a fun wine. The 11th edition is definitely not as good as 9 or 10.

(7 months ago)Maybe it was because I was thinking of cheese, but I was getting some goat cheese on the nose along with more traditional aromas of apricot, and a little vanilla. The aroma is nice, but not particularly interesting. The structure on the palate is a little flabby. **Update: After a couple days I started getting some different aromas including lychee. It seemed like a different varietal was taking its turn. Note that this is off dry.
