big "C" on a simple white label. Also Yecla noted--I believe the region.

I'm not sure what's up with this wine, but I have no experience with the varietal either. The shelf talker sounded great, plus it was on sale. But even after breathing, it hits has a very hard edge I just can't get past; kind of like rubbing alcohol. The finish, however is pretty nice--warm and peppery. I'm giving it an 80 b/c I'm hoping it tastes way better tomorrow. UPDATE: it does smooth out nicely over a couple days.

I'm in accord with the first poster -- very hard on the palate and nose. Got better when open for a while, but overall disappointing, even at this price point.

I bought this based on the little wine store write up too. My first impression was tobacco on the nose. A sip and I thought, pretty smooth and dry. But missing something.
